What does a Collection Box Coordinator do?

Helps Yorkshire Cat Rescue by looking for suitable locations for new collection boxes and coordinating the emptying, banking and recording of existing boxes in your local area.

What’s involved?

  • Identifying and placing collection boxes in suitable locations such as shops, hairdressers, pubs, cafes
  • Talking to people at each location about how the boxes will help YCR
  • Emptying boxes when full and banking the income.
  • Give a receipt and letter of thanks to the hosts
  • Keeping records of the location of all boxes, noting when they are emptied and the amounts banked
  • If boxes aren’t collecting much, you’ll decide to move them to a better location
  • Engaging with business owners to see if they wish to further support the charity, such as by putting up posters (optional)

What experience or skills are needed to do this role?

  • Willingness to talk to people about YCR
  • Knowledge of your local community
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under your own initiative
  • Attention to detail, numeracy and accuracy
  • Basic IT skills
  • Driving is preferable but not essential

Why should you sign up as a Collection Box Coordinator?

The more collection boxes we have in the community the more money we will raise to help more cats!  With staggering vet bills every month your help will generate money that goes directly to helping cats in need.

Where will you be needed?

You can be a Collection Box Volunteer in your local community covering as much area as you wish to.

Additional information

Yorkshire Cat Rescue welcomes and values its volunteers. They help us make a difference to the lives of cats when they need it most. To ensure our volunteers feel happy and supported we provide an induction and training, although if you are only helping at occasional events (2 or less a year) then this is optional. There are always friendly and approachable staff members available that will assist volunteers in everything they do. We also welcome young people, people with physical or mental health issues and people with disabilities.  If you are unsure whether you will be able to volunteer in this role please contact our Fundraising team
