Yorkshire Cat Rescue exists to save the lives of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in Yorkshire and beyond. Their vision alongside Jools David and Nutmeg's is a world where all cats and kittens have happy lives, free from harm and unnecessary suffering.

Yorkshire Cat Rescue do the right thing for every cat that comes into their care. They help cats in need to have a good life and inspire everyone to treat them with the compassion and respect they deserve. They provide all cats with food, love, shelter and the necessary veterinary care until they find a forever loving home. They are cared for by many fosterers across Yorkshire or at the centre in Keighley.

All the cats in our care are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given any other medical and behavioral treatment required before rehoming. They have a no-kill policy (unless recommended by vets due to quality of life). This means that we sometimes get chronically ill cats (or kittens) that can still lead a very good life (pretty much equal to any healthy cat) but have to have long-term medication and/or treatment. Any cat in our care will be cared for until we find him or her a home or are long term Fospice Cats.

As with all charities, Yorkshire Cat Rescue submits annual reports to the Charity Commission. This can be seen on their website.
Approximately 50% of all expenses are incurred on direct costs, such as vet bills, food etc. The balance is spent on overheads, such as salaries, heating, insurance, vehicle costs etc. In previous financial years, large legacies were received. This enabled the charity to operate at a profit, not a loss, but this is not guaranteed income. Fundraising staff were taken on board shortly before the pandemic struck in March 2020 to grow the charity's income from guaranteed sources.

The charity aims to rescue 700 -1000 cats per year. The number has increased year on year since the charity was started in 1992, and the target of 1000 is attainable, although kitten litter sizes can play a large part in determining how many cats do actually come to the rescue.

The future -
Yorkshire Cat Rescue will be looking to open more charity shops through its trading arm, Yorkshire Cat Rescue (Trading Enterprises) Ltd, with a view to taking on more Cat Care Assistants and other support staff as we grow. Their vision is to include a veterinary area on site and this is something we will focus on in 2024/25, quarantine area and a safe area for kittens. The estimated cost of this is in excess of £250,000.

Jools David and Nutmeg are hopefully raising some funds by undertaking this walk to help the cats and Kittens in need during 2024 & 2025 and hopefully contribute to the Charity's future vision.
