What does an Event Volunteer do?

Yorkshire Cat Rescue puts on and attends a lot of events every year. We go to fetes and fairs, we are at marathons and country shows.  We also put on events ourselves from walking on fire to abseiling down a building.  At all these events, Event Volunteers help us make them a success. Our Event Volunteers are a source of information on the event, sometimes that is just being able to point people in the right direction. An Event Volunteer will be there at events meeting and greeting participants, marshalling, helping registration and spreading the word about Yorkshire Cat Rescue and the work we do helping cats.

What’s involved?

  • Helping set up
  • Meeting and greeting participants and members of the public
  • Marshalling
  • Much more! Our events vary, so you could be helping to put up a marquee, packing shopping bags, cheering on runners or even becoming our famous Haworth cat mascot!

What skills are needed to do this role?

  • Ability to work with a team
  • Be able to use and your own initiative
  • A willingness to get stuck into any number of tasks that help the event go well

Why should you become an Event Volunteer?

Our event volunteers make our events a success. Each event is an opportunity to raise funds and get our name out there and tell people about the work we do.  Your help means more money, which helps more cats.  You can also help  us raise awareness of our charity and help us get the support we need.

Where will you be needed?

We hold and attend events across Yorkshire and you will be able to choose which events you want to help out at.

Additional information

Yorkshire Cat Rescue welcomes and values its volunteers. They help us make a difference to the lives of cats when they need it most. To ensure our volunteers feel happy and supported we provide an induction and training, although if you are only helping at occasional events (2 or less a year) then this is optional. There are always friendly and approachable staff members available that will assist volunteers in everything they do. We also welcome young people, people with physical or mental health issues and people with disabilities.  If you are unsure whether you will be able to volunteer in this role please contact our Fundraising team.
