Yorkshire Cat Rescue, a charity who saves the lives of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens across Yorkshire and beyond, are disheartened by the news that Amazon has decided to permanently close down their charity Smile program. As part of the scheme, a small percentage was donated to a customer's chosen charity, whenever they made a purchase via Amazon.

An Amazon spokesperson said the scheme had not had the impact it wanted it to, however for this small charity it is going to come at a huge loss. Nic Willis, charity fundraiser for Yorkshire Cat Rescue says “We were incredibly lucky with Amazon Smile as so many of our supporters signed up to use it. The scheme gave us over £9,000 each year so to be losing this is devastating.”

“We have been looking at other options and have come across the Easy Fundraising platform which is similar to Smile and would encourage all our supporters to sign up to this instead.”

“To sign up simply follow this link http://efraising.org/C3bg0FH3fxAs with Amazon Smile, you can earn donations for us whilst you shop at no extra cost to yourself”

Easyfundraising have promised Yorkshire Cat Rescue a £1,000 donation as long as they get 1,000 people signed up before the 24th Feb.
