Charity retail is a fantastic environment, vibrant, buzzing and always something to talk about. You will be working with other volunteers from a diverse background so you will be able to make friends and get to know new people while supporting a local charity.

We offer full training and support for all our volunteers and we would like to hear from people with all kinds of experience, whether you are a school leaver or retired, you have a place to make a difference at  any of our charity shops. 

Volunteer e-Commerce Assistant

 Yorkshire Cat Rescue shops receive a large number of donations, many of these donations can generate more funds through using online platforms. This is where you will come in.

This role is a varied one and you will have opportunities to really play a key part in the development of the charity moving forward as we add more platforms to our online selling portfolio. This role is based in our Halifax shop and will involve packing items, listing items for sale on online platforms and taking high quality photos.

Volunteer Shop Floor Assistant 

This role will be working within one of our shops, in Halifax, Skipton or Keighley to help customers with their purchases or accept donations from donors and sign them up for our Gift Aid scheme. You will be the face of the charity, meeting people that are our supporters and be the friendly contact that people remember about their visit to the shop you are working in.

Volunteer Sort Room Assistant 

Yorkshire Cat Rescue shops generate vital funds for the operation of the charity. This role will be working within one of our shops, sorting through donated items to find preloved items that can be sold on the shop floor or on one of our online platforms. This role is a vital role in ensuring that our shops remain stocked with good quality items, priced at a reasonable price to generate funds for Yorkshire Cat Rescue.

Volunteer Merchandising & Display Assistant 

This role will be working within one of our shops, ensuring that the shop floor is fully stocked based on communication with the shop manager, creating eye catching internal and window displays to attract customers to buy the stock in the shop. This is a creative and energetic role for someone with an eye for detail but also a flare for creating something spectacular from second hand and bought in stock.

Volunteer Books & Entertainment Assistant 

This role will be working within one of our shops, pricing and displaying books, DVD’s, LPs and other music and other media and entertainment stock in a way that generates further income for the charity. You will also be involved in our trade-in solution where the charity scans and sends books to a company for them to sell on. This role is a great role for a person interested in literature and media and also interested in generating the best price for an item that has been donated to the charity, researching when needed.

Volunteer Homeware & Collectables Assistant 

This role will be working within one of our shops, preparing and displaying homewares on the shop floor and selecting collectables of higher value that can either be sold in the shop, at auction or on our online sales platforms. This is a vital role in the running of our shops, our homewares departments make us a lot money and if these departments are well stocked and displayed in a methodical way, they are much more profitable for us. Collectables also generate a lot of income for the charity and you will be a key factor in ensuring this is possible for your chosen shop.

Retail Volunteer

We have roles for a retail volunteer to work in either our Halifax, Keighley or Skipton charity shops. This is a standard role where you could be doing anything from working on the till, to sorting clothing and pricing items ready for sale.
