Our centre at Cross Roads is tiny, and we desperately need more room to build new pens to enable us to help more cats. The centre is also situated on private land and we would prefer to own our own site so that we can continue to grow as the need arises.
The price of land is astronomical and it is this, more than anything else, which is impeding our plans for a new centre. The cost of a site could be anything from around £500,000 to £1,000,000 – and that’s before we start building.
Many of the bigger animal centres up and down the country were established by benefactors donating land or legacies. In the absence of such generosity, we have to find ways to raise the money ourselves to guarantee the continuation of our work in West Yorkshire.
You can help by making a donation, by spreading the word – and particularly approaching anyone you know who may be in a position to make a major donation of money or land, and you could become a Champion.
Champions are individuals or groups who have pledged to raise or donate £1000. If we can find 1000 people willing and able to do this, we will hit our target of £1,000,000 to buy a site.
